H&M Fashion Against AIDS

» March 31 by Liz in Gallery, News with No Comments

Shiloh is part of H&M’s ”Fashion Against AIDS” campaign!

Artists from the worlds of film and music are supporting Fashion Against AIDS (FAA) this Spring, H&M’s and Designers Against AIDS’s (DAA) mutual initiative to help spread the message of safe sex and HIV/AIDS prevention to young people around the globe.

Selma Blair, Penn Badgley, Keri Hilson, Sky Ferreira, Akon, Nikki Reed, Ginnifer Goodwin, Scissor Sisters, Shiloh Fernandez and The Misshapes are among the celebrities involved in this year’s FAA collection, which for 2011 is a unisex range. The collection is available in H&M’s Divided department and online from April 26, with 25% of sales donated to the charity Designers Against AIDS (DAA) and various other international HIV/AIDS prevention projects. The FAA campaigns have so far raised more than 41 million Swedish krona.

“Artists are an essential part of our campaigns, as they are role models for so many young people. Celebrities help to spread the message by speaking out about HIV/AIDS prevention. We’re asking them to help spread the safe sex message on social media: Twitter, Facebook, their own websites and at their concerts too.” Ninette Murk, founder and creative director, DAA.

When the stars come together for H&M’s Fashion Against AIDS campaign, it really shows this year’s unisex collection at its best. Selma Blair wears a stylish Spring coat over a slogan T-shirt, while Penn Badgley wears an essential hoodie over his T-shirt. Shiloh Fernandez sports a khaki nylon parka, T-shirt and jeans; Ana Matronic of Scissor Sisters wears her peach version of the trench as a dress. Singer Keri Hilson has a cool slogan jumpsuit. It’s all so versatile, and all helps spreading the message about HIV/AIDS prevention. (Via H&M)

Shiloh Fernandez & Max Irons: Red Riding Hood’s Wild Things

» March 28 by Liz in Articles/interviews, Gallery with No Comments

Shiloh Fernandez and Max Irons vie for the affections of Amanda Seyfried in the supernatural thriller Red Riding Hood.

Shiloh Fernandez
Shiloh, 26, who started out on TV’s Jericho and United States of Tara, stars in this month’s gothic thriller Red Riding Hood as an orphaned woodcutter named Peter trying to win the love of Valerie (Amanda Seyfried) as their village is being terrorized by a werewolf. Working with director Catherine Hardwicke was a long time coming for Shiloh, who lost out to Robert Pattinson for the role of Edward in a little movie she helmed called Twilight. This time around, after an intense series of auditions, many of which took place in Hardwicke’s garage, Shiloh landed the part—for which he had to gain fifteen pounds and take tree-chopping lessons. But to fully embody his role as town outcast, Shiloh tried to isolate himself from the other actors. “When we started filming in Vancouver, we all lived in the same apartment,” he says, “but I decided to rent my own place on the outside of town. I got to know everyone really well in the end, but in the beginning I wanted to create that feeling of being an outsider.”

Max Irons
Though he’s the son of acclaimed actors Jeremy Irons and Sinéad Cusack, it was not a given that Max, 25, would enter the family trade. Through elementary school he struggled with dyslexia, which made it difficult for him to read and memorize lines, and his father discouraged him from pursuing an acting career. “He told me, ‘It’s a ruthless business, and you’re potentially destined for a life of unhappiness, financial instability, jealousy, and paranoia.’ But then he realized I was serious, and said, ‘OK, go for it.’” So go for it he did, attending London’s prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama before being cast in Red Riding Hood as Henry, a guy “from the right side of the tracks,” he says, engaged to Valerie through an arranged marriage. Max and Shiloh play bitter rivals, but offscreen they’re anything but. “Having someone else who was new to a movie of this size to laugh with every once in a while,” Max says, “took the pressure off.”

“Passenger” Fundraiser update

» March 28 by Liz in Gallery, News, Passenger, Swerve with No Comments

Passenger

Hi everyone. Thanks so much to all our contributors.

We’ve hit $30 000 which is awesome, but we still need to raise another $70 000 in the next 18 days if we are going to make our $100 000 target and make Passenger a reality.

Kickstarter is an all or nothing deal. If we don’t make the $100 000 target, everyone’s contributions get refunded and we go back to drawing board.

Please tell your friends and help us spread the word. Thanks again!

Tony and Alex
